Here we go again. The Today Show reports students in several different cities in the U.S. giving detention to students for hugging. Do we think children are robots without feelings? An article I wrote about this inappropriate method of controlling sexual misconduct in schools was featured in Mind Body & Soul magazine a few months ago and I wanted to share it with you.
What do you think about the no-touch rules?
the no touch rule was an imbisul of an idea.
it creates a commuinty that doenst know how to love.
everyone knows, that touch is the basic of learning
emotions. they learn what a nice hug is, and a mean punch is.
as children , we learn what we feel comfortable with, and what
we do not. as a middle school student, i know that i wouldnt mind a pat on my back from my back for a job well done. because of the no touch rule, i can not only not hug my friend, but i cannot get a proper reward from my teacher.
i believe that the no touch rule should be changed emediatly. i know that i may not be able to change much, so we need popen minded adults, to help students gain therer ability to hug a friend. 🙂
