Versandra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a young overworked African American woman raising two children working 50-60 hours a week, climbing the corporate ladder, my health became compromised. While recovering from what doctors considered minor surgery I began to consider my purpose in life. I no longer wanted to work every day, all day just to survive. I wanted to live my life on purpose and I wanted to see the world.
As I put into action my plan to transition into my new career and life’s purpose as a healing artist, my dad was diagnosed with cancer. I relocated from the Washington D.C. area back home to Detroit to care for him. Still discovering my life’s path, I studied massage therapy and a variety of holistic health modalities from around the world. Providing on-site corporate massage at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Ford Motor Company World Headquarters, and the City of Detroit while serving celebrity clients like Les Brown, Tommy Davidson, Kirk Whalum, and Dee Dee Bridgewater to name a few, I became well-known in my hometown as a healing artist. My social media activity opened up opportunities for me to speak and teach across the U.S. and Canada. Amidst living my passion, I was also balancing serving my community as I owned a holistic wellness center.
