In June of 2016, I began my Toastmasters journey. It took me nearly 20 years to take on this prestigious self-paced leadership education program because I made excuses as to why it was not “right for me.”
When I tested the waters in the spring of 2016 at a Toastmasters Speechcraft, I noticed how attending a bi-weekly 1-hr meeting held me accountable to my commitment to my own growth and development. Unlike going to college and piling up thousands of dollars in debt, I instead invested about $100 and 36 hrs a year to build my self-confidence, learn essential leadership skills, and grow my professional network.
I have finally come to a point in my life where I can celebrate myself and my accomplishments and not care what anyone else thinks. I give myself permission to shine even when others are uncomfortable with it.
If you would like to celebrate with me and other DTM’s at the Distinguished Toastmasters Hall of Fame Luncheon April 18, 2020, at the Marriott, Atlanta-Emory Area, tickets are available for a limited time. Join us and see how Toastmasters can transform your life.
